How to Assemble PTFE Hose Ends | Lee Motorsports

Reusable PTFE hose ends seal with a ferrule, also called an olive. Match hose and fitting family before starting. This process differs from rubber swivel assembly and crimp assembly.

1. Cut square and clean. A perpendicular end is needed for the ferrule. FLF recommends suitable non-abrasive cutting tools.
2. Install the collar first. Slide its narrow opening onto the hose before adding the ferrule.
3. Fit the olive. Keep the liner round. Separate interfering braid carefully without puncturing the liner; trim stray braid away from threads.
4. Lubricate. Apply the thin oil film specified by FLF. Its procedure excludes grease and anti-seize.
5. Engage by hand. Insert the nipple into the liner/olive and bring body and collar together. Stop on binding. FLF describes roughly 1/16 inch (1–2 mm) final clearance.
6. Clean and pressure-test. Resolve any leak before putting the assembly into service.
